the refund for flight overbooking is provided when:

• to the passenger the boarding is denied for excess of bookings confirmed by the airline
• the airline has legal residence in then EU :
• the flight departed from the EU;
• the flight landed in the EU;
• The passenger is not given to opportunity to reach the final destination boarding a different flight

The passenger is entitled to a compensation from €250 to €600, and it is determined depending on the distance covered, taking as the basis of the calculation the destination of the flight on which the passenger wasn’t allowed to board.

For instance, the amount of the compensation is established as follows:

• For routes up to 1500 kilometres (for example: Milan to London), a refund of €250 is provided ;
• For flights up to 3500 kilometres (for example: Rome to Moscow), a refund of €400 is provided;

• For long flights of more than 3500 kilometers (for example: rome to abu dhabi), a refund of €600 is provided

The compensation request can be submitted within 18 months from the departure date of the flight, if the following requirements are fulfilled:

• The airline is responsible for the overbooking;
• The passenger has checked in within the time allowed;
• The flight departed from the eu or landed in the eu (in the first case, the nationality of the airline does not matter; in the second case, it has to be an airline with legal residence in the eu)
• The overbooked flight was scheduled within 18 months from the moment of the request.

By claiming a refund for a delayed flight with us, it is also possible to get a compensation for it.

if the passenger is offered to reach the final destination boarding another flight, he/she is still entitled to a monetary compensation of the 50% in the following cases:

• for any flight routes equal or lower than 1500 kilometres, with an effective arrival time delayed by less than 2 hours compared to the original flight schedule;
• for any intra community flight routes higher than 1500 kilometres and for any other flight routes between 1500 and 3500 kilometres, with an effective arrival time that doesn’t exceed 3 hours compared to the original flight schedule;
• For any flight routes that are not included in the previous cases and whose arrival time doesn’t exceed 4 hours compared to the original flight schedule;

The overbooking refund is not provided in the following cases:

• if the passenger shows up late at the gate;

• If the passenger doesn’t have the documents requested by the airline.
